التقييم وفقاً للتصنيف:
Good location with easy access, tastefully decorated
Room was unbearably hot on the date of my visit, and music in the bar goes on until midnight, so if you need to get a good nights sleep choose a different hotel (or go to bed later).
Comfortable rooms, helpful staff, convenient location for pre- or post-cruise.
The tavern can get quite loud, especially on Saturday nights.
The comfortable rooms, which had excellent walk in double length showers, the quality products from The White Company and the excellent breakfast were the best things about this brasserie with rooms. Also, the staff were very helpful in offering information about the area and they were very accommodating in their approach to guests requests. The Manager appeared to be very supportive towards the staff and was particularly helpful to me and my family during our brief stay.
I felt that the music was too loud for a restaurant with rooms environment. So much so that it was difficult to have a conversation with my family comfortably during dinner. Also the music didn't go off until midnight - so for any guests wishing to go to bed before this time or with an early start - this could present a problem.I think that it would be more beneficial to guests staying in the rooms to turn the volume of the music down/provide greater noise insulation. Also the restaurant needs to be separated more from the 'pub clientele' - possibly via partitioning of the areas.
I have stayed here over the past 3 years 3 times and the first time it was amazing but since then it has slowly gone down hill and my last visit was very disappointing. I paid for a superior room and shouldn't have, over priced the whole establishment needs some money spent on it, the hallways are dirty and covered in luggage marks. The room has blood on its white net curtains etc etcAlso the food was disappointing, expensive and not very fresh, small portions. Such a shame.
The manager was friendly and helpful, it was nicely furnished and up to date. The design was very relaxing but smart.
Well appointed, clean rooms that had ample space in both the bedroom and bathroom. Both rooms were spotlessly clean and the decor complimented the cosy feel to the building and public areas. The towels were the biggest and softest I've ever found in a hotel and the bed was a delight. Breakfast was a little slow in arriving each morning, so allow extra time for that if you have commitments planned, however it was cooked fresh every morning, the choice was very good and the presentation and taste faultless. Located in a period area with many bars and restaurants to choose from, it was the perfect choice for us and made a refreshing change from the formal 'business' hotels that we often have to stay in. All in all, a delightful place with character and hospitality that the big chains just can't match.
location, service, facilities, very helpfull manager and staff.my wife and i enjoyed our stay, and we have the white star information for any future visits. once again many thanks. m.s.sheen.
being only 5ft 6in shower head out of reach. my wife thought it very funny.
We were told that our room was on the first floor, but it actually was up a flight of narrow, steep stairs. The staff carried our luggage up and down the stairs for us so it was ok. But, if someone was handicapped it would be a problem.
Clean and boutique accommodation in a handy location.
Narrow steep stairway with no lift, but the staff were very helpful and assisted in transferring our large bags both up and down the stairs.
Good location, and the decor was spot on.
Room was ridiculously warm, couldn't leave window open as there was a lot of noise coming from some machines/extractors outside. Fan was provided but it was noisy and pretty ineffectual.
Room was furnished in a pleasant, modern style; it was reasonably-sized and the decor was tasteful and up-to-date. The bed was comfortable. En suite bathroom was fine, too, with a shower that worked well, with hot water.
Fire alarm went off at 10.45.p.m. on our second night; apparently one of the guests in another room had had a shower which triggered the smoke detector. We were told that this happens quite often. There was noise in the bar downstairs until after midnight. The fridge was locked, so we had to ask for milk for our tea, despite being informed in the literature that this would be supplied.
The Saturday night stay was very noisy. Band playing. Could not sleep!
Old times atmosphere linked to ocean liners. Very good food at restaurant , excellent dinner. Chose it to spend our last night in England prior to embarking on Queen Mary2.
Lack of lift , stairs heavy for some. However, staff very willing to help with luggage. Check out at 11am is somewhat too early , 12noon would be more reasonable.
Staff at the White Star were really pleasant and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them including helping to carry bags for you if you wanted. The food was exceptional, as much as possible was locally sourced and organic. Rooms were modern and very clean, bathroom we had was lovely and really nice toileteries. The White Star is located is a busy street with other restaurants and music is played there but at midnight the music is stopped and it is quiet then enabling a good nights sleep. A really good find.
I'm afraid to say we had two double rooms at this hotel and had another one booked for in August, however we are going to cancel it as we found the rooms to be very hot and noisy so we couldn't open the windows of a night. When we wanted to check out we not only had our room food and drinks to pay for they tried to charge us for the people that had stayed the night before as well. There bill was an extra £100 on top of ours. We had to wait three quarters of an hour for poached egg on toast and an omelette I really do not think that is good enough with no explanation why.so no we won't stay there ever again and I certainly would not recommend it either.I might add this is the first time I have ever complained about a hotel.
